The challenge turns painfully personal when Lonnie’s estranged son Lance emerges as one of golf’s rising stars, carrying years of resentment toward a father who treated fame like a family responsibility. Stacy, Lonnie’s sharp-tongued estranged wife, has little patience for another promise of change, while Lance’s fiancée Natalie, Stacy’s partner Radford, hostile PGA official Anton Floyd, and smug longtime rival Golden Fisk complicate a comeback already crowded with wounded pride. As Lonnie drags everyone closest to him through outrageous promotions, old grudges, and increasingly desperate attempts to prove he still belongs, the season balances broad sports comedy with a father-son rivalry neither man knows how to resolve. “The Hawk” (season 1) becomes a loud, irreverent comedy about aging, ego, family resentment, and the difficult discovery that reclaiming greatness may require becoming someone worth cheering for.
