The first season of Outer Range follows the Abbott family, ranchers in Wyoming, who discover a mysterious void on their property. Royal Abbott, the family patriarch, finds this mystical hole that allows him to see visions of the future. The Abbotts are embroiled in a land dispute with their neighbors, the Tillersons, who believe the west pasture belongs to them. The conflict escalates when Perry Abbott, Royal’s son, kills Trevor Tillerson during a fight. To cover up the murder, Royal disposes of Trevor’s body by throwing it into the void. A mysterious woman named Autumn, who is camping on the Abbott ranch, witnesses this and later pushes Royal into the void. Royal emerges from the void with knowledge of future events, which he uses to navigate the ensuing chaos. The season explores the family’s efforts to keep their secret while dealing with the repercussions of their actions. Deputy Sheriff Joy begins investigating Trevor’s disappearance, and the Tillerson brothers, Luke and Billy, become increasingly suspicious of the Abbotts. As the season progresses, it becomes clear that Autumn has a deeper connection to the void and the Abbott family. The finale reveals that Autumn is actually Amy, Royal’s granddaughter, from the future.
