The project is based on the book by Simon Rich, entitled The Last Girlfriend On Earth or Man Seeking Woman. The main character is naive romantic Josh Greenberg seeking his fortune on the love front. When after several years of dating beloved girl left him Josh turns to despair. Greenberg decides not to give up and find his true love which designed him by destiny. The director of the pilot episode will be Jonathan Krisel. The script writes the author of the book – Simon Rich, who also served as executive producer along with Lorne Michaels. Manufacturing process is headed by FX Prods and Broadway Video. Filming the pilot will begin in the spring of 2015 in Toronto.

The storyline turns around two young girls who live in New York. Ilana (Ilana Glazer) and Abby (Abby Jacobson) are not very successful in life, they earn a little, don’t have ambitious plans in career, do not focus on serious, strong relationships and they have unattractive look. They don’t hesitate to their unideal appearance, do not think how they look like for others. Ilana and Abby are not aliens with bad habits. The idea to create the series “Broad City” appeared at producer Amy Poehler after watching the comedy web episodes involving Ilana Glazer and Abby Jacobson, where the girls were playing themselves. In each episode raises issues that concern ordinary girls with any weight, height, appearance and income.
