The small island of St. Mary in the Caribbean sea repeatedly changed owners, taking the authority from France then from UK. It brings to a mixed population of English- and French-speaking population. Under mysterious circumstances on the island was killed a British detective who worked with local police. In order to investigate the murder of London sent an inspector Richard Poole, who can not tolerate the tropics and wants to get away home. But when he to solved the crime, Poole was appointed to the position of killed detective and forced to stay on the island…
