The series “Legacies” is a spin-off to the successful project “The Originals” and tells about teenagers Alaric Salzman and Caroline Forbes, who graduated from school, where there was a place for both ordinary students and for vampires, werewolves and other representatives of the supernatural world. The main character of the series “Hanna” is a young girl named Hannah. As far as she remembers, her father raised her, Eric Heller. From a very young age, a former CIA agent, instilled in her the skills that experienced fighters possess. As a child, she could easily survive for several days in conditions in which not every adult would have survived. But Eric’s employers are eager to return him to the service, prepared a seizure, taking only one Hanna as a prisoner. She was able to easily get out of the bunker, where she was held and went to a meeting with her father, in a pre-arranged place. Being in captivity, she learned something about herself. In particular, the fact that the man who raised her, has never been her father. The very same girl – the result of a unique experiment – the perfect killer, who knows neither mercy nor pity. Now it’s time to ask Heller some questions.

In the detective series “The Name of the Rose” the action takes place in the thirties of the XIV century, when Europe was marked by the killing and death of monarchs, many wars, epidemics in which the population dies. However, events taking place in one of the monasteries in the north of Italy defy logical explanation, and plunge the locals into horror. In the monastery tragically died several monks.

A comedy series “Miracle Workers” is about the work of a lower-level angel responsible for receiving and delivering all prayers to the address, and his boss, God, who is much more obsessed with his favorite hobbies than with a working routine. God’s thinking of retiring, and he’s not up to humanity. Moreover, he would not mind and did get rid of the Earth with its many problems. The series is based on Simon Rich’s book What in God’s Name.

The fifth season of the detective series “Shetland” continues to delight with views of the Shetland Islands, the strict but beautiful nature is fascinating. Detached houses seem so cozy and cute, until the crimes start happening. The main thread through the entire series is the loyalty of the protagonist to the detriment of his personal life and the kinds of a tiny person on an endless plain or on the edge of a 500 m cliff emphasize and heighten the atmosphere of loneliness. While his father is making ends meet, pushing cheap weapons on the black market, his son, wishing to get away from the poor coexistence of his family, is already in the local criminal authorities, where he was called the “White Boy Rick” because of the mostly black Detroit contingent 80s. Pete (Mark Wahlberg) and Ellie (Rose Byrne) decide to have a foster child as a matter of urgency. After going through a sort of briefing in an adoption company, the couple stops choosing 15-year-old Lizzie. Since the girl has a younger brother and sister, the newly minted parents automatically become large and have no idea what adventure they are embroiled in. On the one hand, Instant Family is a completely standard, largely predictable comedy about adoption. On the other hand, in the second half of the movie this is more of a drama than a comedy, the authors of which try to tell the audience several important things. (more…)
The stories about drug addicts are almost always the same story line. The once diligent hero tries drugs, and life suddenly turns into hell – and not so much for the character himself as for the people close to him. “Handsome Boy” (the English-language debut of the Belgian director Felix van Groeningen) was no exception – except that this story is more about those closest to you than about regular weekdays for drug addicts. MacDonald (Matthew Modine) – the only survivor of a resonant robbery of a cash collector. We are talking about a big bag with money, and not even one. The problem is that under unclear circumstances, clearly related to the sharing of the loot, MacDonald suffered a head injury and now does not remember where the money is. Detective Sykes took up the business seriously – we know little about him, but his look is severe and Sylvester Stallone plays him, so it’s immediately clear that he’s not the last person and not least important for the plot. When one of the university professors gave a lecture on other dimensions, the young man set about trying to use astral projection to connect with the spirit of the mother. In this movie “Astral” the authors try to talk about how to understand the traumas of the past, and show the willingness of the main character Alex to do it using very unusual means, using the poorly studied phenomenon of astral projection.
