Bates Motel is a new American horror thriller based on Hitchcock’s cult film Psycho. It tells the story about Norman and his mother Norma who lived a very hard life. At the beginning of the show Norma’s husband died leaving the motel for her. This motel is located on the coastal Oregon town where characters start to a new life. But everything is going on wrong way a plenty of dramatic situations occured and Norma is involved in a death of few locals. Norma is really bad person, she is demanding, severe and strict. She raise Norman in pain and suffer. That’s why he became a maniac who lost his own self and head. From that very moment his weak personality float away and more stronger Norma starts to fulfill him. As for the story and the acting, it’s absolutely astonishing and mind-blowing! Freddie Highmore perfectly fits into the role of Norman Bates, he copied the look up Anthony Perkins, his gait, facial expressions, habits, clumsiness. As for Vera Farmiga, she always inimitable! True, many including me were Norma Bates slightly different, to me it seemed a “tyrant” and modern standards, though, and overbearing, but not to this extent.
