The series begins in 1938 in Los Angeles. The city is growing political and social tensions. The streets are full of drawings from Mexican folklore. When the terrible murder shocks the whole of Los Angeles, detective Thiago Vega (Daniel Zovatto) takes up his investigation and unwittingly becomes embroiled in a series of strange events that are closely intertwined with the rich history of the city: from the construction of the first freeways, forgotten traditions to the dangerous spies of the Third Reich, the cult of Santa Muerte and the heyday of evangelism. Thiago and his family soon confront the powerful forces that threaten to tear them apart.
