White separatists called the League Of American Nationalists (LOAN) arrive in Charming. LOAN’s leader and backer businessman Ethan Zobelle and Zobelle’s enforcer, A.J. Weston, seek to drive the Sons of Anarchy from Charming. Soon, the Sons learn that Zobelle’s true intentions are not racially motivated; rather, he wants to do work the prison heroin trade with the Mayans. The action began when notorious serial killer Joe Carroll escaped from death row. The FBI immediately called former agent Ryan Hardy to consult on the case, as he was the one responsible for Carroll’s capture in 2003, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature. Ryan, working closely with an FBI team, including Mike Weston and FBI Specialist Debra Parker, uncovered that Carroll was covertly communicating with a network of followers while in prison. Police, who were unable to solve complex crimes, came up with their tactic of searching for the bandits. To do this, they start using all kinds of technology, which gives incredible results. Thanks to equipment that allows you to do a wiretap, the police managed to catch twelve of criminals. In addition, was extracted not only the shipment of weapons and expensive cars, but a few dozen kilos of heroin and half a million dollars. The fourth season expanded its scope again to include an examination of the school system. Other major plots include the mayoral race that continues the political storyline begun in season three, and a closer look at Marlo Stanfield’s drug gang, which has grown to control most of western Baltimore’s trafficking. Dukie, Randy, Michael, and Namond, four boys from West Baltimore, they enter the eighth grade. At the same school, Prez has begun a new career as a math teacher. Despite mentorship from the more seasoned faculty, Namond, and later Michael, work as drug runners for Bodie, who has had middling success selling Proposition Joe’s product independently. (more…)

In the third season, the focus returns to the street and the Barksdale organization. The scope, however, is expanded to include the city’s political scene. A new subplot is introduced to explore the potential positive effects of de facto “legalizing” the illegal drug trade, and incidentally prostitution, within the limited boundaries of a few uninhabited city blocks — referred to as Hamsterdam. The posited benefits, as in Amsterdam and other European cities, are reduced street crime city-wide and increased outreach of health and social services to at-risk populations. (more…)
