The action takes place at the height of the Cold War, in the late 1950s. Russian Jew Samuel Petrukhin emigrates to the UK. There he lives with his wife Miliam, 17-year-old daughter Hannah, and 8-year-old son Sasha and is engaged in the invention and production of hearing aids. Sasha’s illness, due to which the boy goes to the hospital, inspires Samuel to create a revolutionary device that will facilitate communication within hospitals and other enterprises.
