He’s lazy, he does not really get along with young members of society, but he was always placid and good-natured. He is the one his blood relatives are handing their children to while they are dealing with various problems. The thing is that Uncle Bob is a big kid himself. He needs someone to look after him in the first place. The show has a moral dimension: juveniles will teach Uncle Buck a lot of things and in return will receive a few lessons of vitality from him.
