The movie “The Mule” is based on real events. Leonard Sharp, a veteran of the Second World War, a pensioner, a famous gardener and florist from Michigan City, contracted to transport large quantities of drugs from the Mexican border to Detroit, which he did for more than 10 years. In October 2011, Sharpe, 87, was finally arrested and brought to justice. The trial lasted a long time, as a result he received only 3 years due to his age and the “dementia” declared by lawyers.
